PARKING CONTROL OFFICER
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT


The City of Pittsfield’s Public Services Department is seeking a qualified individual to fill the Parking Control Officer position. This individual will perform duties required for the enforcement of all parking rules and regulations for the City of Pittsfield. Officer will ticket illegally parked cars on overtime meters and in violations in other designated or restricted areas such as parking lots, parking garages, and streets throughout all areas of the city. Use of a hand held electronic ticketing device and License Plate Reader systems on a daily basis. Shall maintain parking kiosks. Installs and uninstalls wheel locking device “boot” as required. Must communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 Patrol regularly and other special assigned on and off street parking areas to enforce parking regulations by issuing an individual parking ticket for each violation  Work within established routes, which may be changed from time to time by the Commissioner of Public Services and/or the Parking Superintendent  Use hand held electronic device or hand written method to issue tickets. Information entered must be legible, accurate and complete if hand written  Use hand held camera to record violations as instructed  Operate the License Plate Reader “LPR” system to detect violations and take pictures of violations for use in proceedings  Competently use hand held department and police radios to maintain contact at all times with the department  Wear uniform within standards set by union contract and department policy. Must present a neat and clean appearance at all times Performs other duties as assigned or required

QUALIFICATIONS
 High school diploma or GED  Valid Massachusetts driver’s license  Some clerical and computer skills: must be able to accurately issue, complete and keep track of daily tickets. Must have basic computer skills to operate the License Plate Reader system  Must have some related experience with tasks requiring high level attention to detail and the ability to work alone without direct supervision for long periods of time  One to three years working experience, preferably dealing with the public in a customer service environment  Additional training or classes in customer service, customer relations, or law enforcement preferred  May be required to submit a copy of a Registry Report showing a clean driving record  Must communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Salary range: $14.52 – $17.97 per hour
