We’ll be joined by Sen.Jo Comerford and Rep Chynah Tyler to learn more about this legislation co-sponsored by over 40 State Legislators, endorsed by more than 130 organizations across the state. We will also be joined by Mahtowin Munro of the United American Indians of New England and Andrea James of Families for Justice as Healing and the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls.
The forum speakers will discuss what this bill does and doesn’t do, how it would be implemented, and how an investment of $50 million can be better spent on our communities rather than incarceration and prisons. While our state is still reeling from Covid-19, and our prison systems are at only 60% capacity, Democrats in our state legislature are uniting against this egregious waste of taxpayer resources on a new prison, instead pushing for investment in recovery and healing. The evening will end with a Question & Answer period.
