As you probably know, October means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Berkshire Health Systems is hosting a free Zoom webinar on mammography and breast wellness. Dr. Caitlyn Lopez is going to present—she’s a terrific radiologist and is the director of our Women’s Imaging Center. She will describe why mammograms are important, what to expect from a scan, and how the doctors read results.
All of us at BHS want to make sure that people throughout our community remember how important it is to get a regular mammogram. Mammograms can help detect cancer early, when it’s most treatable. We know that lots of folks put off regular screenings since the beginning of the pandemic, and we want everyone to know how important it is to get back on a regular screening schedule. (To make it easier, we now offer high-tech 3-D mammo screenings throughout the county, including in Pittsfield, North Adams, and Great Barrington!)
