As part of Banned Books week, WAM Theater invites you to listen to true stories of Black and Indigenous Women who were Civil Rights pioneers. This series of lively conversations will feature scholars, artists, and community leaders telling real live stories that are often missing from history books. The series is presented in connection with WAM Theatre’s upcoming production of CADILLAC CREW. Admission to all the following events is free:
- Saturday September 17, 2pm – Clark Art Institute Auditorium, Williamstown, MA, featuring Professor Frances Jones-Sneed (MCLA) & artist/educator Nicole M. Young-Martin
- Tuesday September 20, 6pm – Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield, MA, featuring Indigenous Historian Heather Breugl (Oneida/Stockbridge-Munsee) & Community Activist Gwendolyn VanSant (Multicultural BRIDGE)
- Saturday September 24, 3pm – Stockbridge Public Library, Stockbridge, MA, featuring storyteller and inspirational speaker Amber Chand and Dr. Eden-Reneé Hayes.
In addition to these three live conversations, there will be a recorded conversation featuring Indigenous Historian Heather Bruegl, Dr. Eden-Reneé Hayes, and Storyteller Onawumi Jean Moss on the WAM website as part of WAM Theatre’s Spotlight Series.
