Our Freedom Fund Dinner is happening soon. It will be held Saturday November 9, 2019 at the Berkshire HIlls Country Club, 500 Benedict Road, Pittsfield.

Please join us for our annual fundraising event! The Freedom Fund Awards Dinner is the primary fundraising event of the Berkshire County Branch of the NAACP. We are proud to offer other community events free of charge to our community throughout the year.

Funds raised at this year’s Awards Dinner will be used to provide financial assistance to African-American students of Berkshire County pursuing post high school education in the form of either academic or vocational training.

We are honored to have Dr. Shirley Jackson Whitaker as our Keynote Speaker. Dr. Whitaker is a nephrology specialist, an artist and a social justice activist. She is a creative force for education among the under-served in Western Massachusetts, having created the first effort to spread drug education through a rap-puppet opera, “Monsters Among Us.” Dr. Whitaker also spearheaded the first ever memorial service for African-Americans who had been lynched, Ashes to Ashes in 2016.

The Berkshire County Chapter of the NAACP will be honoring the following outstanding members of our community: Churchill Cotton and Homer “Skip” Meade.
