The Berkshire County Branch of the NAACP welcomes Berkshire County’s new District Attorney Andrea Harrington as our featured guest at our monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, February 6 at 6pm at the Berkshire Atheneaum in Pittsfield. The meeting is open to the public and guests are welcome.
Andrea Harrington is the first woman to be elected District Attorney in Berkshire County, and ran on a campaign of smart, data-driven criminal justice reform. She is a native of Berkshire County who attended Pittsfield public schools and was the first in her family to go to college.
Her work on cases ranging from minor low-level offenses to the highest stakes post-conviction death penalty appeals in state and federal trial and appellate courts has provided her with the tools and experience needed to reform criminal justice here in Berkshire County. She is bringing new leadership and a new direction to the District Attorney’s office by bringing tough prosecutions in serious cases like sexual assault, prioritizing treatment over incarceration for people who need it, and ending the shameful scourge of racial bias here in Berkshire County.
