WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY ACADEMY?
The purpose of the CPA is to educate members of the public about the operations and activities of the Police Department. The Community Police Academy 2018 is intended to focus more closely on the actual day – to- day operations of law enforcement.
WHAT WILL I LEARN ABOUT?
Recruitment, Training, Department Structure, Law, Policy and Procedure, Patrol
Operations, Use of Force and Defensive Tactics, Firearms, K9, Animal Control, Criminal
Investigations, Crime Scenes, and Narcotics.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The Community Police Academy is open to anyone eighteen years of age or older who
lives or works in Pittsfield, MA and who passes a thorough background check.
WHEN?
Thursday Evenings, November 8 through December 20, 2018 from 6-9 PM (No Class 11/22)
COST?
FREE!!!! The CPA is completely free. The only cost to participants is their time. Participants are required to attend at least six of the eight classes.
WHERE?
Classes will be held at Pittsfield Police Department Headquarters, located at 39 Allen St.
