Branch members, community members, allies, and friends,
Once again, we are bemoaning the killing of three black citizens of Jacksonville, Florida in a racist attack. The murders occurred this past Saturday, (8/26), at a Dollar General store after the killer was refused entry on the campus of Edward Waters University a historically Black college university (HBCU). The white 21-year-old murderer then took his own life. You can read national’s press statement condemning the act of hate here.
The NAACP, Berkshire County Branch is holding a stand-out THIS Wednesday 8/30 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Park Square in Pittsfield.
We ask that you join us, for there is power in numbers.
We must continue to bring awareness and remind the community and political leaders to address the growing issue of (hate), antisemitism, racism, and homophobia/transphobia, as well as the need for gun control.
In solidarity,
Dennis Powell, President of the NAACP, Berkshire County Branch
