Core Routines of Nature Connection to be featured at Pittsfield Green Drinks

Devin Franklin, author and director of Flying Deer Nature Center, will speak about the Core Routines of Nature Connection at the Pittsfield Green Drinks October meeting on Tuesday, October 15th starting at 5:15 pm at J Allen’s Clubhouse on 41 North Street in Pittsfield, MA (in the back room).

The Core Routines are a dynamic yet simple set of awareness and mindfulness practices that draw from deep within the practitioner, beautiful attributes such as happiness, curiosity, empathy, and helpfulness.  “We are nature,” says Franklin. “Nowhere do I see this truth shine brighter than in a person who has been avidly engaging with the “Core Routine of Nature Connection.”

Franklin will lead the group toward a common understanding about what these routines are, engage with personal stories about how they (knowingly or not) have already been moved by these practices, and generate ideas for how to better activate the routines in daily life.

Devin Franklin has served as a program director at Flying Deer Nature Center in Columbia County since 2001. He has consciously practiced the Core Routines of Nature Connection for the last 25 years in backyards, urban centers and deep wilderness alike. Franklin is the author of Put On Your Owl Eyes (Storey, 2019), a workbook on the Core Routines. He can often be found on his belly watching ant lions devour hapless ants.

Pittsfield Green Drinks is an informal gathering on the third Tuesday of the month. These nights are free and open to everyone with any environmental interest. The drinks aren’t green but the conversations are. Bring your questions!
