General Membership Meeting – Program: Ballot measure 4; Choices Mentoring Initiative

The NAACP, Berkshire County Branch, Berkshire Immigrant Center, along with co-sponsors, the League of Women Voters of Central Berkshire County, and Williamstown, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts (ACLUM) will host Dalida Rocha, Field Director from the Yes on 4 for Safer Roads campaign to speak at the branch’s next general meeting on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, starting at 6 pm.

Supported by social justice and human services organizations across MA, “Yes on 4” is a ballot question that will appear on the November election. It is about a bill that was passed earlier this year called The Work and Family Mobility Act which gave undocumented immigrants the ability to obtain a driver’s license. Recently detractors were able to get enough signatures to try to overturn this law and it will be on the November ballot.

We will also be joined by Dr. Emmanuel Bilé and Jermone Edgerton Jr., founders of the newly formed Choices Mentoring Initiative. They will be speaking about the initiative’s goals, including the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Skills to navigate daily situations and build strong family, school, and community relationships.
