General Membership Meeting – Prostate Cancer Workshop
Join NAACP, Berkshire County Branch, and our special guests Dr. Faina Shtern and Dr. Mitchell Sokoloff of the nonprofit AdMeTech Foundation, who educate, raise awareness, and advocate campaigns that resulted in historic legislation, recognizing prostate cancer crisis as a public health priority and major area of health care disparities and calling for increased national investment in research and innovation for the advancement of prevention, early detection and treatment.
Did you know that Black and African American men are much more likely to develop prostate cancer? One in six Black men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime—compared to one in eight men overall. Black men are 1.7 times more likely to be diagnosed with—and 2.1 times more likely to die from—prostate cancer than white men.
Dr. Faina Shtern and Dr. Mitchell Sokoloff will go over recent advances in the treatment of prostate cancer and recent advances in diagnostics for prostate cancer along with going over AdMeTech’s prostate cancer equity program.
This presentation is important information for all to learn about.
