Green Drinks: Working for Clean Water
At our September gathering we will welcome Weyessa (Ace) McAlister to talk about his work on clean water, both here in the Berkshires and in his home country of Ethiopia. Starting at 5:15 PM we’ll chat and nosh, and at 6 PM Ace will talk for about 30 minutes.
Originally from Southern Ethiopia, Ace is from a small farming village of about 300 people. He and his sister were adopted by a family in Great Barrington. He graduated from Monument Mountain Regional High School and is now a rising senior at Trinity College with a major in environmental science. Ace is founder and president of an official non-profit student organization, H2OPE TC.
Ace will talk about his story, the water crisis in his village while he was growing up, and why he founded a non-profit. He will also discuss the work H2OPE is doing, and how it impacts his communities both here in North America, and also in Africa.
